Myself:
My name is Erich, I am a tech obsessed person who likes to buy new hardware. I’m the kind of guy who likes to do tweaking to a system and I overclock most of my stuff. I like Linux and anything to do with open source. I hope that you enjoy the blog.
Linux:
I’ve been using Linux for about 3 years now. My first distribution was Fedora Core 4 on an old Gateway E-3000 with 128mb of RAM and a Pentium 1 processor. It was slow as a dog but it got me started in the world of Linux.
Here are some of the distributions I have tried over the years:
(In no particular order. Also note that I include a link to each distribution’s website in case anyone is interested in trying them out.)
Fedora Core - http://fedoraproject.org/
Knoppix - http://www.knoppix.com/
OpenSUSE - http://www.opensuse.org/
Kubuntu - http://www.kubuntu.org/
Debian - http://www.debian.org/
Ubuntu - http://www.ubuntu.com/
Damn Small Linux - http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/
Dream Linux - http://www.dreamlinux.com.br/
Zenwalk - http://www.zenwalk.org/
Xubuntu - http://www.xubuntu.com/
Mint - http://www.linuxmint.com/ (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED DISTRIBUTION)
I’ve switched back and forth between KDE and GNOME over the years, even using Fluxbox now and then, but I’ve currently settled down with GNOME running Compiz-Fusion on both of my Linux machines.
And please, if you feel there is some wonderful distribution I have not yet tried, please inform me.
